3.4. Streams and rainwaters

Rainwater is a very effective agent for eroding and shaping landscape, especially in areas with dry climates and torrential rains.

 

Wild waters run-off through the surface of the terrain without a fixed course. When they join to flow in a common channel it is called stream. Its erosive action is especially significant in soft rocky materials. The formed landscape is called badlands.

 

Erosion by water forms gullies in the land. Gradually, gullies get deeper and become ravines.
